When I was a kid, I was always drawing on legal pads, the table cloths at Macaroni Grill and napkins. I tended to draw horses, ballerinas, fashion designs and butterflies. As I aged, I got better at rendering light, shadow, muscular structure and perspective. Drawing was always something I took for granted about myself. My parents always said that I had natural talent that they didn’t understand, but it was a long process for me to see the value in my own skills. After a journey from photography to art school and becoming a practicing artist full time, I’ve grown so much and made so many new discoveries. Listed here are some collections that are slightly older alongside the exciting works I’m creating now! Can’t wait to share my ongoing art journey with you.

I am a moving target as far as my mediums- which you will be able to see here! I have new ideas all the time, and for me fresh textures, colors and techniques keep me continually falling more in love with the art process. At Belmont University, my program did an amazing job cultivating my curiosity for learning by sticking my hands into new things and testing the limits of different kinds of art-making. This love of trying new things has led me to a variety of mixed media processes involving everything from spray paint to acrylics to oils to charcoal- and any combination of things.

I am so inspired by the world around me. In my case, art helped me- a shy, self-conscious young woman- to find her confidence and her voice. I am so inspired by the world around me. In my case, art helped me- a shy, self-conscious young woman- to find her confidence and her voice. This has led me to be passionate about using my art and my voice to help others to find the same: my work comes from a deep belief in people, their stories and the creative in everyone. The older I get, the more life I live and the more stories I hear- the more I value all the story and emotion art can hold. Art can truly help people to heal, grow and just feel that they are not alone. This is my why. Things that inspire me toward new works and series are new epiphanies, new feelings and revelations, and all the vivid pictures I see in the world around me. Artists that have influenced and taught me through their works and legacies include: Frida Kahlo, Gerhard Richter, Mark Tobey, Salvador Dali, Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollack, Piet Mondrian, Kehinde Wiley, Julie Mehretu, Claude Monet, Auguste Rondin and so many more. I also draw lots of inspiration from architecture; periods of design history such as Dada, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and others; Egyptian and many tribal art traditions; street photography; fashion; cuisine and more.
